In case you haven’t heard, we won on Tuesday night!
Except that it has taken me 48 hours to let it sink in–which is why we didn’t immediately sent you an update.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the 1,235 votes that were cast for me. In our three-way race, 1,235 people in our community chose our vision for district 35!
There was Laura–who we registered to vote back in January, and then called me up on Election Day asking if I could give her a ride to the polls.
There was Yoli, who I have never met, but took the time to call me on Election Day–in tears, to tell me she had just cast a vote for me and was so proud to do so.
I’ve been thinking about Michael, who I met late in the day on Election Day, as I was finishing up my last minute turf. He was sitting in his back porch when he welcomed me in and he let me share with him why I was running. As I was leaving, he said he had only planned to vote for President, but had decided to take a chance with me because I stopped by to encourage him to vote.
1,235 people took a chance on me and voted on Tuesday. We now owe it to them to keep this momentum going and am grateful to you for coming along for this ride.
Now on to November!
