Rep. Rubio completes bike ride to Santa Fe for session
SANTA FE – Rep. Angelica Rubio, D-Las Cruces, arrived at the Roundhouse at noon Saturday, one week after beginning her journey of biking from Las Cruces to Santa Fe for the 2019 session that starts Tuesday.
Rubio was received in Santa Fe by Rep. Linda Trujillo, D-Santa Fe. She met with representatives on both sides of the aisle, as well as constituents, during her journey. She rode her bike from Las Cruces to the Roundhouse to connect southern/rural New Mexico communities to legislators and the legislative process.
“On this journey, I have learned so much,” Rep. Rubio said. “There are more things that unite us than divide us, and New Mexicans are the kindest people, hands down. People have fed us, welcomed us into their homes, and provided us with warm beds along the way. I’m so inspired by our state, and determined to take the opportunity this legislative session to create meaningful change for people across our great state.”
Rubio launched her ride on Jan. 5 in Las Cruces. She made stops in Hatch; Truth or Consequences with Rep. Rebecca Dow; San Antonio with Rep. Gail Armstrong; Belen with Rep. Kelly Fajardo; and Albuquerque South Valley with Rep. Andres Romero.
